Here is my final line up based around my military theme designed for an adventurous muse.

Here are some of my portfolio pages that show how my designs developed from concept, to market research and consumer profile which led to my silhouettes and detail ideas.

My concept

My fabrics are based around my colour scheme with added military webbing and soft fabrics for different textures.

Today we got an online talk, by Angela Ackroyd, from the SDC (Society of Dyers and Colourists). The company was established in 1884, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The theme for the competition this year is ‘Colour of the Universe’. Angela told us to interpret the brief in any way we like, however it must include colour and the universe. In our entry we must reference the colour atlas on the colour communication system, create a maximum of 4 design boards, and a written statement of up to 400 words. The brand is extremely passionate about being sustainable, it is very important that we keep it in mind throughout the project and consider the use of resources. Ethical reasoning should run throughout! The deadline will be around march. Membership to the SDC costs £18; which grants you free access to their webinars including ‘A history of pigments’ ‘A history of dyes’ and many other introductions to things like dyeing and colour communication. I will definitely be choosing this competition as I am passionate about colour and would love to learn about it in more detail. I feel as though this competition will give me the opportunity to be really expressive in my designs.
