ORIGINAL PHOTOS

ORIGINALS

As I had decided that I wanted to create a print out of daffodils I went out to get more photographs of them. I chose the white ones with yellow centers rather than the fully yellow as they were more interesting to look at. I captured pictures from various angles to give me a wider range of flowers to make the print more exciting. The photos came out even better than I had imagined they would.

FLOWER PRESSING

I picked some flowers to press. I wanted to include some 3D more realistic flowers in my research, rather than just 2D images. I am also considering scanning these in to possibly use as prints on my fabric. I believe this could have worked a lot better if I had found more flowers in different colours but I could only work with what I had.

FLOWERS

I decided that I wanted to create a floral print on my shirt so I went out to take photographs to get some inspiration. I collected images of a range of flowers of different colours and shapes.

I took three books out of the library to help me with my research. The first one was on Print Design so I could learn how to create and develop a print and the different ways I could apply it to fabric. This taught me a lot about the way colours go together and the combination of prints. It was mainly on floral prints so this was perfect for what I wanted to do. The second was an Yves Saint Laurent book for design inspiration on a mix of styles and illustrations. This book also had many hand drawn unique sketches in it. And the other one was on technical drawings to help me improve my drawing and understand how to do it better. This one turned out most useful as I needed a lot of help and advice when it came to drawing the figure, especially technical flats.

STUDIO IMAGES

FRONTFINISHEDBACKFINISHED1I am quite happy with how the bag turned out in the end. We were able to accomplish everything we set out to do at the start (e.g. waterproof, floating, etc.)

FILMING

Today we went out to capture the final clips for our 3-minute video. Michael did the filming and Dan was the modelling the bag.
